The sound of running water, the splashing into the bowl reminds us of the power of god and the life giving presence that’s always with us, but especially we remember it at the time of baptism. The more we involve the senses the more we can be present to the spirit that is always with us.

I hand-throw and hand-paint each piece in my studio in rural Wisconsin.

Meaningful

Butterflies–called ‘flying flowers’ in Chinese–are symbols of new life. From caterpillar to cocoon and then the metamorphosis to flight, we are challenged to take risks, to have faith that there is beauty and life beyond what we can see at this moment.  There is a saying ‘To be able to become a butterfly, you need to be willing to give up being a caterpillar.’
