The warmth of the sanctuary in your own home!

If you are celebrating worship online from home, or following a written service provided by your church, Home Communion Sets are an option to consider. I suggest creating a simple setting: A cloth, candle or lamp, maybe a flower, a cross, a Bible, and the communion set with bread or cracker and juice or wine.

Six designs are available–Natural Clay Cross, Blue Waters, Trillium, Balance, Grapes and Wheat, and Butterfly.

Ideal for someone in a residence such as Assisted Living or Long Term Care, living alone in an apartment, or for families worshiping virtually. Perhaps you can worship together with loved ones online, and receive Communion together.

Available as a Basic Set ($32) or Deluxe Set ($58) please see below for comparison.  You may add up to 6 cups ($10/cup), or contact me if you need more than 6.

The ceramics can be hand washed or put in the dishwasher for sanitizing.

The Designs

The Natural Clay Cross design is drawn with my finger through the wet glaze to show the natural color of the clay. It is as if each piece is individually anointed! Drawn with a finger, the cross, which is a strong symbol of the power and love of God, takes on human warmth and presence. The Natural Clay Cross design reflects the humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ in a simple form.

Back to basics–Grapes for the wine or juice, and wheat for the bread! We also recall the workers in the vineyard and the vine and branches images from the parables. Growth, life, connectedness.

Butterflies called ‘flying flowers’ in Chinese–are symbols of new life. From caterpillar to cocoon and then the metamorphosis to flight, we are challenged to take risks, to have faith that there is beauty and life beyond what we can see at this moment. There is a saying ‘To be able to become a butterfly, you need to be willing to give up being a caterpillar.’

This is the Blue Waters design. Water images are plentiful in the scriptures, and represent nourishment and cleansing, as well as the power of the Creator. I hand-paint each chalice and paten with the designs, which vary somewhat from piece to piece.

This is the Balance design  The natural color of the clay, covered with a clear glaze, balances the area of the pottery piece that is glazed with white. This is a reminder that in our own lives and in our relationships with others, we need to maintain a balance in order to allow harmony and community to thrive. This design reminds us to notice when we need to re-balance to be at peace within ourselves and with our neighbors.

This set is the Trillium design (other designs are available in my shop). The Trillium is a native woodland wildflower in my area, and in many parts of North America. The three prominent petals and leaves symbolize the Trinity, and in Celtic lore represent Faith, Hope, and Healing. A beautiful and living representation of God With Us! I hand-paint each chalice and paten with the designs, which vary somewhat from piece to piece.

I hope you feel the energy of creation, the nourishment of God’s power and presence, and the care with which each piece is made!

All of the ceramics are handmade by me in my studio in the Northwoods of Wisconsin
